Tohoku University Museum of Natural History

BUS STOP 9

One of the university’s open facilities, this museum displays a collection of examples and specimens garnered from Tohoku University’s research and education, especially from the fields of the earth sciences. Soon after you enter the museum, you’ll see the complete skeletons of a Stegosaurus and a Fukuiraptor, and swimming above them is a Sei whale skeleton. There is an abundant display of fossils that tell the story of 2 billion years of evolution, and stones and minerals that make up the Earth, all of which teach about the changes of the Earth and the history of life. Outside the museum building are Dawn Redwoods, also known as living fossils, and a display of plant fossils, or petrified wood. This facility turns your thoughts to prehistoric times. Also of interest is the corner that describes the latest research activities and results.
