the Poet Bansui Doi’s Last Residence

Bansui Doi, known as the author of the lyrics to “Kojo no Tsuki” (Moon Over the Ruined Castle) and other works, was a poet born in Sendai. Bansui who was also a scholar of English literature, taught English at his alma mater, the Second High School under the old education system (current Tohoku University) , and made great contributions to education in Sendai after retiring and becoming a professor emeritus. Bansuisodo is the preserved residence where Bansui spend his final three years. His prized possessions, photos, calligraphic works and paintings are on display here.
